Content of the course
This course gives a solid introduction to figure drawing, using a constructive language of shapes, based on classical rules for anatomical construction of the human body.
We draw a live model, which changes every 5 nights, alternating between male and female. We begin by drawing the big shapes of the body and with getting the proportions right, as well as understanding the model’s counterweight balance and position in the room. Thereafter the teaching focuses on form, shape, volume, dynamic and rhythm, proportions, light and shadows. We study the human body in a big format, using coal, chalk and red chalk, and we do croquis drawings (quick sketches) with pencil and coal. The teaching consists of class teaching and individual feedback and corrections.
